For the recent Compass in the Community initiative, our employees wanted to do a food drive. Rhett Lillard, our main bistro associate, helped to organize this project by finding an organization and getting the word out to our residents and staff members. I helped by creating the flyers and setting up the donation locations. The administration staff at The Crossings got excited about the project, and helped to collect donations from their staff members as well.
We chose to donate to Bay Area Turning Point residential shelter in Webster, TX. BATP is a shelter for women and children who have been the victim of abuse or assault. In a little over two weeks, we collected approximately $150 of donations, which is impressive for a brand new community that isn't full yet! Rhett and I dropped the donations off today, and the BATP staff members were so excited and grateful for our help. This project has helped us to bring our team closer together and remind us that not only do we enrich the lives of seniors every day, we can enrich the lives in the community around us as well. I've attached several pictures, as well as a copy of the flyer we used. Let me know if you need any more information, or if my submission might be chosen to be featured. Thank you!
